cover song

bob dylan cover

most of the time by bob dylan

i should make note that this is based on the alternate take for "oh mercy" found on the 2008 bootleg series album

three covers

three covers. one was recorded last week, the other two in june lever pulled by john frusciante wallow by luke doucet true love will find you in the end by daniel johnston (as covered by matthew good)

three new cover songs

well, it has been a long time since i have been able to do some recording. in fact, these are the first recordings in my new place for the summer. it is a quiet building with good acoustics. i had only played the one song - "this cold" before tonight. sensible heart by city and colour this cold by john frusciante the rat within the grain by damien rice

march 22 2008 acoustic set

here is the march 22 08 set in zip format and setlist 1 opiated (tragically hip) 2 counting down the hours (ted leo & the pharmacists) 3 lotus (rem) 4 strange love (depeche mode) 5 sunny (morrissey) 6 going to california (led zeppelin) 7 crosses (jose gonzalez) 8 two step end - into - typical situation (dave matthews) 9 smith (brian danchilla) 10 emily, please (luke doucet) 11 so real (jeff buckley) 12 why must i plead? (richard thompson) 13 rocky world (daniel lanois)

new recordings released

here is an acoustic set that was all recorded last night. except for two songs (that make use of the same vocal equalization effect), everything is raw and basic - no amps, no reverbed vocals, which is what i wanted this time. songs flow well into each other - the good and the bad. there are 15 tracks, 4 have been recorded before - 'strange love', 'why must i plead', 'behind blue eyes' and my own song 'smith' (previously titled 'smith & reflections'). but the other 11 songs are new!

two (pretty decent) covers

here are two songs that i covered today. the first is chances by john frusciante and is quite polished and nice. it has a second guitar track and myself backing a few vocals. the second cut is face by damien rice and is quite rough and energetic. it has a second wah guitar track and i don't know the lyrics well. i am happy with both though, they are both above (my) average. face is a "b-side" so unless you know damien rice's work, you've probably never heard it. on listening to the mix of 'chances', i am very pleased with it.

two new covers

another ryan adams song. this time cannonball days jeff buckley's version of the leonard cohen song hallelujah two of my finer performances

la cienega just smiled

cover of ryan adam's song la cienega just smiled recorded on january 10th. fyi ----- • it's a sneeze at the beginning...i decided to keep it in the final mix...i was quite sick that day • i f*&#ed up the end rhythm and simultateously say inaudibly "that's a hell of a way to end it"
