movie review of 'the box'

The Box is one of the most suspenseful, sometimes creepy, movies I have seen in a while. Although this movie got bad reviews by most critics, I am with the ones who liked it. Despite some plot flaws and a somewhat weak ending, it kept me intrigued and tense throughout.

The Box with Cameron Diaz and Frank Langella

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Last night I watched The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and very much enjoyed it. spoiler alert! do not read if you do not want some of the movie ruined for you.

two Guillermo del Toro movie reviews and ironman

so i watched a while ago the subtitled "the orphanage" and give it a 8. it actually creeped me out a little and i just watched "hellboy" which i rate 6.5 **true story - from when i saw trailers of this movie years ago to just yesterday i always erroneously thought that hellboy was played by ted danson with minimal makeup** i enjoyed the first half of ironman and then got bored with the cliches and action sequences. i give it a 5.

"the happening"

i had heard the terrible reviews of M. Night Shyamalan's latest film "the happening". currently it is 18% on rotten tomatoes. i watched this movie and without giving anything away, i agree that the acting was subpar - especially at the beginning of the movie. i expected more from mark wahlberg who has proved himself as an actor in recent years (the departed, we own the night, shooter). the basic idea was semi-plausible (without the gruesome means of death - which did add to the 'cool' factor). i found the movie entertaining and had its memorable lines. it was quite enjoyable actually. if you came it with fantastic expectations then you will be disappointed. if you expect a 20% movie like i was told, you may be quite happy. i rate it 5.5/10 it is not the best m night movie - whatever your favorite one may be - but it is still above the hollywood average.
